Instead of relying on the sometimes muddy color reproduction of ZINK or the bulky mechanism of traditional desktop photo printers, the Hi-Print uses an all-in-one cartridge that layers cyan, magenta, and yellow dye, sealing it with a protective coat in under a minute. The result is a vibrant, highly detailed 2x3-inch print that doubles as a sticker thanks to its convenient peel-and-stick backing. Polaroid has also updated the chassis to feature 30% recycled materials, giving it an eco-conscious edge without sacrificing its sleek, pocketable design. The companion app is straightforward and snappy, allowing for quick Bluetooth pairing and easy image customization before printing. However, this dye-sublimation brilliance comes with a few frustrating compromises: the internal battery only yields around ten prints per charge, making it less than ideal for all-day events away from a power bank. Additionally, the out-of-the-box experience is lacking, as neither a USB-C charging cable nor a starter paper cartridge is included, meaning immediate use requires separate purchases.
