Winix 5500-2

Important notice: The Winix 5500-2 was officially discontinued in the United States and Canada by Winix America as of May 2025, along with the older Winix 5300-2. Production has ended and remaining retail inventory is selling through without replenishment. While Winix has confirmed it will continue producing OEM Filter H replacements through at least 2032 — meaning existing owners can keep their units running — new buyers should approach purchasing a 5500-2 with caution, as stock quality, availability, and pricing are increasingly inconsistent across retailers. The Winix 5510 is the official successor and direct replacement, adding WiFi app control through the Winix Smart App, a built-in air quality monitor, and a stronger 253 CFM CADR in a similar form factor at approximately the same price. The 5500-2 does retain certain advantages that some users prefer: its washable AOC carbon filter handles odors without replacement costs, it operates more quietly at maximum speed (55.3 dB versus the 5510's 65.7 dB), and it includes a physical remote. If you find the 5500-2 at a meaningful discount from a trustworthy seller with clear warranty terms, it can still be a reasonable purchase. However, as a general recommendation for new buyers in 2026, the Winix 5510 is the appropriate choice in this category. The Winix 5500-2 review is preserved here for reference only; the product is no longer recommended for new purchase.
