The X-Sense SWS54 is aimed at homeowners who want to deploy several leak detectors without spending hundreds of dollars on a whole-home plumbing monitor. The kit uses compact wireless water sensors that can be positioned near washing machines, sinks, toilets, water heaters, dishwashers, and other vulnerable areas. When water is detected, the sensors provide an immediate audible warning, while the connected system can provide remote notifications when paired with the appropriate base station and app. This makes the SWS54 considerably more practical than relying on a single detector in one high-risk location. Installation is also straightforward because the sensors simply need to be placed in the areas being monitored rather than connected to the home's plumbing. The system cannot automatically shut off the main water supply, and its analytics are much less sophisticated than those offered by Flo or Phyn. Nevertheless, that simplicity is also its biggest advantage. For renters, smaller homes, or homeowners who want inexpensive protection in several locations, the SWS54 provides a practical way to cover multiple leak-prone areas without hiring a plumber.
